Helvellyn Climb in memory of Aleasha

Story

Nearing 67, overweight and unfit, I have decided to climb this beautiful mountain one last time. Preparations are underway and I hope to make it to the top unassisted with friends and family members with me. A key member of the team will be my dear friend Dennis Knight, who has shared several previous ascents. I need your support to help take the Hell out of Helvellyn, so please donate generously to this great cause in memory of my beautiful niece Aleasha who, I know will be with us on the day

We did it

10th May 2015
Well despite poor weather predictions yesterday (9th May) on time and on target we stood on the peak of Helvellyn in bright sunshine and let off over a dozen OCA balloons. Thank you so much everyone for the fabulous support and especially to Dennis, Mark, Lucas & Aidan who were great company all the way to the top & down again.

Nearly there

1st May 2015
With only a few days left, all fingers & toes are crossed for fair weather. Whilst at the top we hope to inflate & let off the balloons sent to us by OCA. The OCA teal t-shirts have arrived as have the pink rosebuds we will wear in memory of Aleasha. You've got to be a "real man" to get away with wearing this combination !! Anyone interested in joining us will be most welcome. Currently definites we have are: Dennis Knight Aidan Ellison Mark Cardwell Lucas Cardwell and myself. Please keep the money rolling in as we're closing in on the £1K target rapidly

It's all happening

8th April 2015
With four weeks to go, things are beginning to take shape: Tents are being prepared Campsite booked - our base camp is Sykeside at the foot of the Kirkstone Pass I'm doing my best to make sure I'll keep up, regularly going to the gymn and riding my bike around Over Wyre. OCA T-shirts are on their way - so we'll all look the part. And the best news is that we've just gone through the £500 sponsorship milestone. Please keep giving to this deserving charity that funds research and promotes awareness of this terrible disease.
